A human soul is a blend of duty, faith, morals and divinity. The duties that one commits in his life are measured by qualities, otherwise known as Gunas.

There are three types of Gunas “Saatvik”, “Rajas”, “Taamas”.

gunas

“Saatvik” is the supreme and best quality associated with pure and friendly deeds done for humanity with pleasant thoughts of wellbeing.

The “Saatvik” believe in a simple and spiritual lifestyle, this quality denotes purity, calmness, intelligence and renunciation.  Saatvik consume’s the simplest and easily digestible form of food such as pulses, whole grains, vegetables and fruits with no delectable preparations. They abstain from alcoholic drinks, non-vegetarian foods, strong smelling vegetables such as onion and garlic. They sport simple comfortable attire with no dangling jewelry or ravishing fittings. They are simple minded and religiously inclined, with no malice for those who are with or against them. They do not desire for worldly possessions but rather render services for humanity and mankind selflessly.
“Rajas” are secondary associated with one’s qualities associated with power, vitality and dynamism.

The “Rajas” believe in a lavish and highly sociable lifestyle, of that comprising the luxuries of the world with desire for more splendors. Consume rich and delectable variety of foods and do not abstain from strong smelling veggies too. But rather keep distance from alcohol and non vegetarian stuff. They sport fashionable outfits with flaunting jewelry as they are more worldly inclined. They are rather greedy when it comes to fame and wealth, but not to the extent of hurting mankind for the sake of their desires. They are somewhat spiritual, but prefer socializing with their worldly bonds of humans through parties and fun filled vacations.
“Taamsik” are the lowest kind of qualities associated with deeds involving shrewdness, violence, and self centeredness.

The “Taamas” believe in a shrewd and self centered lifestyle, of that comprising the darkness, ignorance and inertness. Tamsik consumes very strong flavored variety of foods which are heavy to digest. They do not abstain from any kind of alcoholic drinks or non vegetarian foods. They sport a highly materialistic fashion style with the thought of showing off their superiority of status. They are the types that could dive to any extent in order to achieve their goals or materialistic desires as that of even harming a human or any worldly creature. They are not spiritually inclined and believe in the motto of ‘The survival of the fittest’- i.e. The strong may rule and the weak may perish.
As per the ‘Puraans’ and ‘Vedas’; these qualities are judged as per our lifestyle, behavior and the food we consume, which may not necessarily reflect a particular type in today’s world.

This guy had his finger cut off in an accident and decided to embed a USB drive in his prosthetic finger.

It is the story of Jerry Jalava, 29, a self-described software developer from Finland who lost part of his left ring finger in May in a motorcycle accident.

Now, he says, he wears a prosthetic finger made of silicone, which looks fairly natural — except that he can peel back the tip to uncover a USB drive tucked inside.

Jalava’s finger of the future has become a small Internet sensation.  The USB drive — also called a flash drive or thumb drive or memory stick — contains 2 gigabytes of memory and can plug into almost any currently sold computer. Jalava keeps several computer programs on it, he says, and hopes eventually for an upgraded version.

It is not attached permanently into my body; it is removable prosthetic, which has USB memory stick inside it,” he writes, in slightly broken English, on his blog protoblogr.net. “When I’m using the USB, I just leave my finger inside the slot and pick it up after I’m ready.”

Jalava said he has two different prosthetic fingertips that he can use. The other is conventional, made to look like a natural finger, but Jalava says he does not plan to keep it that way.

“Right now I use it mostly when I need to do network inspections or memory testing on computers in our office,” he said, “but when I get the latest one ready, it will be my single sign-on to my computer and my e-mails.”

All this began one day last spring, Jalava says, when he was driving his motorcycle home from work. He hit a deer, slid a couple of hundred feet and lost the tip of his finger. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital in nearby Helsinki.

Unemployment in Los Angeles County is in the double digits, but prospects are looking up for 500 strippers, thanks to the reopening of a landmark nude dancing club on the Sunset Strip.

Salah Almudarris, who owns West Hollywood’s The Body Shop, says the club will reopen Thursday night, creating jobs for about 20 staff and as many as 500 of what he terms “independent contractors.”

An electrical fire badly damaged the Sunset Boulevard venue in December.

Almudarris says about 50 women will work each night and they could earn upward of $1,000 each.

The venue dates back decades and was mentioned in the 1980s Motley Crue song, “Girls, Girls, Girls.”

Almudarris says area bars may get a boost too, as his club serves no alcohol.

The 21 polo ponies that died Sunday in Wellington were all injected before the game with a government-banned vitamin supplement called Biodyl — and team members believe a tainted dose caused their deaths, the team’s captain said.

Juan Martin Nero, captain of the Lechuza Caracas polo team, told La Nacion newspaper of Buenos Aires that all of the horses had received Biodyl injections before the game.

”We don’t have any doubts about the origin of the problem,” Nero said. “There were five horses that weren’t given the vitamin, and they are the only ones that are fine.”

Biodyl, a French-made supplement, is banned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and its sale or use in the United States is illegal, an FDA spokeswoman said.

Biodyl contains vitamin B-12, selenium, potassium asparate and magnesium asparate. Last year, a shipment imported into the United States was rejected by FDA officials because it was deemed ”a new animal drug which is unsafe,” FDA records show.

As the investigation into the horses’ deaths continues, speculation is surrounding the team’s Argentine veterinarian.

Felix Crespo, a former competitive polo player, was in charge of the horses’ health, and he would have been the one to oversee their diet and any supplements or injections they may have received, people familiar with the team say.

A call to Crespo’s cellphone in Argentina was answered by his daughter, who said he was still in Palm Beach County.

Taliban militants have extended their grip in northwestern Pakistan, pushing out from a valley where the government has agreed to impose Islamic law and patrolling villages as close as 60 miles from the capital.

Police and officials appear to have fled as armed militants also broadcast radio sermons and spread fear in Buner district, just 60 miles from Islamabad, officials and witnesses said Wednesday.

The fall of the district, Buner, did not mean that the Taliban could imminently threaten Islamabad. But it was another indication of the gathering strength of the insurgency and it raised new alarm about the ability of the government to fend off an unrelenting Taliban advance toward the heart of Pakistan.

In recent days, the Swat militants have set their sights on Buner, a district just south of the valley, sparking at least one major clash with residents. The moves indicate the militants want to expand their presence beyond Swat to other parts of Malakand at the very least, under the guise of enforcing Islamic law.

Many in Buner are now too frightened to speak to reporters. However, a lawmaker from the area told The Associated Press that the militants had entered the district in “large numbers” and started setting up checkpoints at main roads and strategic positions.

Critics, including in Washington, have warned that the valley could become an officially sanctioned base for allies of al-Qaida — and that it may be just the first domino in nuclear-armed Pakistan to fall to the Taliban.

Pakistan Nuclear Missiles Beging Guarded by PAK Army

The U.S. has been keeping a watchful eye on Pakistan’s nukes since it first detonated a series of devices a decade ago.

“Pakistan has taken important steps to safeguard its nuclear weapons, although vulnerabilities still exist,” Army General Michael Maples, chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency, told the Senate Armed Services Committee last month. Then, he immediately turned to the threat posed by al-Qaeda, which, along with the Taliban, is sowing unrest in Pakistan.

“Al-Qaeda continues efforts to acquire chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear materials,” he said, “and would not hesitate to use such weapons if the group develops sufficient capabilities.”

Nowhere in the world is the gap between would-be terror-martyrs and the nuclear weapons they crave as small as it is in Pakistan.

Nor is their much comfort in the fact that Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal who was recently ordered freed from house arrest by the country’s supreme court, was the Johnny Appleseed of nuclear proliferation, dispatching the atomic genie to Iran, Libya and North Korea. But U.S. and Pakistani officials insist it is important to separate Pakistan’s poor proliferation record with what is, by all accounts, a modern and multilayered system designed to protect its nuclear weapons from falling into the wrong hands.
